Taking
the Gospel to the Streets
Revival-USA, a
Kingdon-minded, Christ-centered, Bible-based mission, participates
in the Great Commission by proclaiming Christ (Phil. 1:18)
at major outdoor community events in the U.S.A. Our
purpose is to inspire the Saints toward a more intimate relationship
with God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ and to proclaim
the message of salvation to sinners. Our goal is not
to preach at people, but rather to remind passersby of the
majesty of Jesus Christ, the power of God, and the faith and
hope in the Bible all for the glory of God.
The quote below
reflects our attitude about the mission.
"I simply argue that the cross should be raised at the center of the marketplace as well as on the steeple of
the church. I am recovering the claim that Jesus was not crucified in a cathedral between two candles, but
on a cross between two thieves; on the town's garbage heap; at a crossroad so cosmopolitan that they had to
write His title in Hebrew and Latin and Greek ... at the kind of place where cynics talk smut, and thieves
curse, and soldiers gamble. Because that is where He died. And that is what He died for. And that is what
He died about. That is where church-men ought to be and what church-men ought to be about."
George Macleod, founder of the Iona Community in Scotland

Mission of Revival-USA
At Revival-USA our
mission is to magnify and passionately pursue the Gospel of
Jesus Christ, and to spread His message in all of its glory
and power throughout the U.S.A. and the World. The Gospel
energizes and excites us to preach Christ so that people may
receive Christ as their Lord and Savior (John 1:12) or at
the very least that they would begin seeking Him by reading
the Bible (Hebrews 10:6). The mission of Revival-USA is a
simple one, requiring nothing more than an open mind and heart
from any and all passersby.
By taking our mission
to the streets (Luke 14:23), we are able to have face-to-face
interaction and discussions about righteousness by faith in
Christ that many people desperately want. We seek a genuine
reflection from the hearts of all passersby, and to give them
an impression of our own devotion and love for God at the
same time. The heart must be entered with grace to combat
the tension that exists within many people, and our mission
of love and remembrance for Jesus' message helps us achieve
this. When our mission is combined with our method, it allows
us to look millions of people in the eye and tell them that
they are loved by God through His Son.

Method of Revival-USA
As the early church
did more than 2,000 years ago, Revival-USA takes the Gospel
to people where they will see it most readily: concerts, major
sporting events, parades and festivals. These are often the
places where Jesus is thought of the least, but also where
people may need him the most. The goal is to sow seeds of
righteousness into the hearts of everyone we meet so that
they will receive the joy that comes from loving Jesus Christ.
In these environments,
you are competing with the noise and distraction of the environment
and also are combating the siritual wickedness in high places
(Ephesians 6:12). Thus to effectively sow seeds doctrinal
messages are preached, literature distributed, crosses held,
prayer booths established, spiritual surveys taken, people
personally prayed for and signs held with various inscriptions
such as "Read the Holy Bible Daily."
The methods cause
people to pause and think at least for a moment, and oftentimes
begin a conversation regarding our beliefs and our purpose.
We find that for the most part, people respond pleasantly
to us because they are not being preached to, but rather being
reminded of the love that God offers through faith in Jesus
Christ.
The story below
shows how the simplest and seemingly insignificant act can
have a world changing impact.
Bishop Desmond
Tutu's Story of Faith
It is true that
God is in the details, located in every moment of life no
matter how small it seems. There is a tremendous story that
elucidates this idea; a story about how a man named Desmond
Tutu made his decision to become an Anglican Priest. When
he was only six years old, Desmond was walking with his mother
down a South African sidewalk when a white man approached
them. It was custom then for black people to step off of the
sidewalk and into the street when a white person approached,
allowing the white person to continue safely on their journey.
But this day, it was the white man who stepped into the street,
allowing Desmond and his mother to remain safely on the sidewalk.
Left amazed by the man's unheralded kindness, Desmond asked
his mother who the man was. His mother replied that the man
was an Anglican Priest, and Desmond declared on the spot that
he too would become an Anglican Priest one day. Later in his
life his dream was fulfilled, and in 1984 Desmond Tutu, Anglican
Priest, won the Nobel Peace Prize for his outstanding work
against apartheid in South Africa. This illustrates how small
statements can make a purposeful impact.

History of Revival-USA
Revival-USA began
in 1996 when Co-founder Bill Adams went to Buckhead, an infamous
bar district in Atlanta, Georgia, to speak with people about
Christianity. What he learned there astounded him and helped
further his cause to evangelize the U.S.A. He realized that
most people had an impression of God, but nearly all of these
impressions were unfounded and not based on the Bible. Secondly
he noticed that hardly anyone was searching for answers because
no one was presenting the truth so they instead were "living
out" their lives bereft of hope.
Soon after Bill's
discovery, he set out to the streets of Buckhead fulltime,
leaving his high profile job behind in order to bring the
Gospel of Jesus Christ to the 2,000-5,000 people "partying"
there every night. He realized immediately that thousands
of people could be reached with God's message on the streets,
and that many of these people were willing, and wanting to
listen. Thus began what eventually would become Revival-USA.

Where Revival-USA has been to Minister
In September 1998,
Revival-USA began to travel, heading first to our nation's
capital during the Presidential Impeachment trial. High profile
events quickly became the norm and since 2001 Revival-USA
has attended: the last seven Super Bowls; many, many NASCAR
races in Atlanta; six NBA All-Star Games; the Major League
Baseball All-Star Games four times; the NCAA Final Four four
times; the 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympics and the 2004 Summer
Olympics; 2006 World Cup in Germany; 2007 World Cricket
Championships in Barbados; 2007 Pan AM Games in Brazil; 2007
Rugby World Cup in Paris, France and countless sporting events,
concerts, festivals and conventions in Atlanta.
Along the way, the
Gospel has been taken to well over 7million people.

Revival-USA Results
The results of our
take-it-to-the-streets ministry have been extensive and significant.
People respond most commonly in any of four ways: by
affirming the message with a nod, a wink or a verbal amen,
denying the message by ignoring it and the person sharing
it, pausing to talk or mocking us.
Most of the time,
the results are very pleasant, but even when we are ignored
or mocked, our mission of bringing the message of God to every
person at a crowded event has still been accomplished. Because
to ignore something, you must first recognize its existence,
and to employ mockery as resistance to an idea shows strong
signs of immaturity and fear, exactly the type of person most
in need of God's love.
Anyone willing can
receive literature on the spot as well as discussion, which
can turn into group prayer sessions, prayer requests for personal
situations, confessions of sins, theological discussions as
well as people discussing their gratitude for our presence
at the event. Finally and sometimes most important, when people
see us at multiple events, an additional door is opened for
an extended relationship and ministry.

Revival-USA's Hopes for the Future
Revival-USA's hopes
for 2008 are to continue to expand upon what has become the
most active urban ministry of its kind in the U.S.A.. We seek
to develop a coalition of 10 partnering churches, 100 volunteer
evangelists, 1,000 registered intercessors and 10,000 senders
with the express purpose of bringing a righteous transformation
to Atlanta and God willing the U.S.A. in 2008.
As we continue to
travel the country and world spreading the Word over the next
two to three years, we also hope to attract 1,000 likeminded
Saints to cover the world's most popular events, furthering
our message, our mission, and the love of Jesus Christ.
